Matthew 25

Jesus tells the parable of the 10 bridesmaids.....the kingdom of heaven is like a wedding banquet...you'll see in Revelation that Jesus is the bridegroom and he comes to marry the church, whom he cherishes like a husband cherishes a bride.     Apparently, in the Jewish culture, the groom went to the bride's house to marry.   Interesting that it wasn't in the temple like today?  After the ceremony, the bride and groom returned to the grooms house with a huge procession where there was a feast....this is the feast that we read about in the Bible at the Second Coming...."be prepared" is the theme of this parable.

Jesus tells the parable of the loaned money.....I want you to tell me the purpose of this parable...I love that Jesus is happy....human emotion in our Savior...and note the fact that it says twice, "Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your master's happiness!"  and then the last words of the parable are ....there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth....a bit of a tone change, wouldn't you say?

Jesus tells about the final judgment...note that a goat was the first animal that was slaughtered for a meal and a sheep was preserved in those days.  The sheep go to the right which is a place of honor, and the goats go to the left which is a place of rejection.  I have noticed that in a lot of these parables, you will find that Jesus says, "I tell you the truth"....this is noteworthy and I love to mark that in my Bible.  What is the truth in this parable?
