Overview of Joshua

....and Moses' Personal Assistant steps up......the Lord has approved him to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land.   We know that Joshua is a brilliant military leader, so he'll be skilled at conquering the land the Lord has given to the Israelites.

The book of Joshua is divided into two main parts...it is 24 chapters.  The first half deals with the Promised Land and the second half deals with the dividing of the conquered land.  Joshua is a book of History, rather than a book of Law.  Moses was the father of the Law. Now we move into the 12 books of History.

Joshua means "salvation" in Hebrew.  The Old Testament is written in Hebrew.   Joshua means "Jesus" in Greek, which means "Lord is Salvation"...the New  Testament is in Greek.

Joshua is 85 years old when he accepts his charge!  What 85 year olds do you know that are great warriors?  Yikes....
