Can you believe we are finishing Numbers today?
We find out about Cities of Refuge.....priest judges the "crime", not the victim and his accuser........and Zelophehad's daughter's get their inheritance and they can keep it if they marry within the tribe....Land will not go between tribes.
I think Numbers is summed up beautifully by Paul who tells us that events described in Numbers are examples that warn us and help us avoid the Isrealites' mistakes (1 Corinthians 10: 1-12)...yep, the Bible is written for us that live today....we should stay away from complaining and compromise...do you have any of that in your life?
That's a Man of War jelly fish.....do you feel like Leviticus is DEEP.....lots of rules. Lots of Law....God is teaching the people how to approach him....Hang in there....
Look what comes up from the depths of the sea.

Still love the benediction 6:24-26. In a book about hymns I read that those words were found written on two tiny silver scrolls (the size of pen tops) by Judith Hadley in 1979 excavating the Hinnom Valley at Jerusalem. The scrolls were older than the Dead Sea scrolls; they dated back to the seventh century BC. Of course, the words are much older. What is wonderful to me about this benediction is that these are God's words of blessing that He gave to the priests to say to the children.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe no comments on my comments from yesterday??/ Did I get the answers right?
ReplyDeleteyes...I think we all have complaining and compromise.....we are human and live in a world of complaining and compromise.....but I thin we need to be more aware of what we complain about.....is the complaint about not having our way or not having God's way......and so many compromise morals and character and beliefs to not "rock the boat" today.....if you really stand up for what you believe today, it seems you may be outcasted.....maybe that is why so many do not practice the christian life they claim to be. I hope this makes sense.....I think sometimes people compromise christian beliefs for acceptance in society.....
And can't believe it.....5 books complete!! wooo hooo!!
Sylvia, that is so cool....can you imagine discovering something like that?
ReplyDeleteBonnie, you are so funny...you did very well on the quiz!!!!! And your comments are so true...in the nature of Political Correctness, we can't pray in schools.....people are afraid to say Merry Christmas for risk of offense....why is mentioning your belief offensive? To me, that doesn't mean you are condemning all the others.....but to not speak your belief is definitely a compromise....
