Deuteronomy 28-29

Blessings for Obedience, Curses for Disobedience.....again, God is telling the Isrealites about consequences...but it is all about THEIR CHOICE.  This is very much a two way street....what do you think Isreal will chose?

Moses then moves into his third address in Chapter 29.....I mark the word "covenant" every time I see it in my bible.  I use a red colored pencil and just make a big rectangle, and then underline it in yellow......this comes from the Precept method of Inductive Bible study which I will enlighten you on some day.

Note that Moses is talking about the covenant with the Isrealites in addition ddto the covenant he made with them at Horeb (Sinai).  Moses is restating the covenant to warn the people that if they did not keep their part of the agreement, they would experience severe discipline.  He reminded them that God did what He said He was going to do....do you realize that all the commandments can be summed up with the first two?   Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself.   With those simple things, all the others roll up into it.

I love verse 29....The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law....to me, this means God has a plan...we are part of that plan, but there are some things He simply isn't going to share with us, or we are not going to comprehend.....what He has revealed to us He wants us to take notice of....we then need to make our choice on it and be responsible for the consequences.   God isn't trying to be mean by restricting us...He really is trying to give us freedom if we surrender to Him and live His way......why do we chose to go our own way?  Do we think we know better than God?  In this context, it makes me feel like I am a willful child....then I realize that I am not alone in this, because those much greater than I am have struggled with sin.....

Romans 7: 14-25  (bear with me, this is so COOL)
