Joshua 16-18

...the tribes continue to receive their inheritance.....remember that Joseph doesn't get land, but he as Rachel's oldest gets a double portion. If you recall, Joshua blessed Joseph's two Egyptian children at the same level as his son's....grandchildren got son's blessings.  You may remember Zelphehad's daughters...there were no sons, but Moses granted the daughters his inheritance so that his name would not be forgotten......pretty big deal in a patriarchial society......

We are also going to have problems with people that are not driven out completely as God commanded.  Keep that in mind going forward.  The Manassites were afraid to drive out inhabitants and take full possession of the land.  Instead, they begged for more land and Joshua asked them to prove their sincerity by first clearing out the unclaimed forest areas.

Joshua will cast lots for the rest of the land, and strangely, it turns out just as God wanted (imagine that, huh?)

The religous center (location of the Tent of the Meeting) moves from Gilgal to Shiloh...it is more centrally located this way, among the tribes....and did you catch that Benjamin's allotment contains Jerusalem?
