Moses' first address is all about what God has done for us...he delivers them from Egypt of course, but Moses doesn't begin there. He begins at the base of Mt. Sinai (he likes to call it Horeb)....he talks about the appointment of leaders since the multitude of Isrealites was too numerous for him.....he talks about the spies that were sent out and how the bad report resulted in 40 years of wandering...one for each day the spies checked out the land. Moses talked of rebellion against the Lord and how the Isrealites tried to fight without God and were defeated. Moses is speaking to all the Isrealites (wonder how they all heard him...was his word passed throughout the ranks...why do I wonder about these things???) and they were East of the Jordan river in Moab.
Chapter 2 reiterates the wanderings in the desert...they had to go around Seir which was the land of Esau......he says:
The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast desert. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you and you have not lacked anything.....a bit of different persepective, huh?
Moses talkes about the defeat of Sihon King of Hashbon...the Lord said to Moses, "See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his coutnry over to you..."
In Deuteronomy, Moses is delivering an "inspirational" speech indicating how the Isrealites were to live in the Promised Land....they needed to recognize all the good that God had done for them....
That's a Man of War jelly fish.....do you feel like Leviticus is DEEP.....lots of rules. Lots of Law....God is teaching the people how to approach him....Hang in there....
Look what comes up from the depths of the sea.
