David continues to talk with God.....he is afraid, he is honest, he praises the Lord. I was impresses to see in Psalm 17:15 that David believed in life after death....that is what the word "awake" indicates...my study Bible says that although belief in resurrection was not widespread in Old Testament times, several verses show that it was at least partially understood:
Job 19:25-27
Psalms 16:10; 49:15; 139:17, 18
Isaiah 26:19;
Daniel 12:2, 13
Psalm 35 is called an "imprecatory" (cursing) psalm that calls on God to deal with enemies....David is asking God to do it....he is not doing it himself.....can you imagine what David is going through mentally? He is anointed as a king, but he is running for his life....the Psalms show he didn't exactly thnk it was fair....but he doesn't appear to question God...he is definitely lonely.....and what a future is coming to him if he can just hold on.
