Psalm 121/123-125/128-130

David probably did not write all these Psalms....King Hezekiah is thought to be the author of some....we'll meet him when we read Isaiah...

The Psalms of Ascent continue....pilgrims were the ones that were headed to the temple for the religious festivals that God commanded his people to....The pilgrims would sing these songs together and in doing that were also teaching the younger generations about God....God protects us and watches out for us.....God will lead us, but we need to be attentive to it

I love Psalm 128...it is apparently called the marriage prayer because it was often sung at Israelite marriages.....my notes say that God will reward your devotion to him with inner peace.....isn't that a gift to be delivered from anxiety and worry....I probably would have more peace if I quite trying to help God......I like to think I am among good company in that Sarah and Rebekah struggled with ehe same so long ago.

That leads directly to Psalm 130....we have the assurance of forgiveness.....God knew we would need it, so he made provision for it....God will surely forgive us if we confess our sin to him.....

GOD LOVED US WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS.....Thank God for that....
