Oh, my....the trials of the family begin....another Tamar comes to play......she gets raped by a brother, David's son. Amnon thought he was in love with Tamar (hello....your sister may be pretty, but ewwwwwww) which was lust. After the sexual act, Amnon hated her and cast her out. This was the worst thing he could do....since there were no witnesses it appeared that Tamar propositioned Amnon....David was furious but did nothing.....why??????? Maybe David didn't want to deal harshly with Amnon since he was first in line for the throne...maybe he felt guilty because of his involvement with Bathsheba....
Absolom kills Amon with a conspiracy.....Absolom stays safely in refuge with his grandfather, Talmai........Joab sets up a scheme with a widow woman to get Absolom back.......Joab knew that David was grieving for his son........David brings him back and we begin to get a bit of character coming into place....Absolom is pretty and praised for his handsome appearance.....apparently hair was a big thing, because when he had a cut, there was two pounds of hair and this seems to be a compliment.....I say that is one hairy man... Absolom is a baby and burns Joab's field to get attention. This would tick me off...go to all this trouble to bring pretty boy back because David is grieving and he burn up my field.....
Absolom creates a rebellion and David leaves. He intends to come back because he leaves 10 concubines to take care of the palace. David has many allies from different lands. The priests and Levites were loyal to David....David puts a spy in Absolom's court....Hushai is the man......more intigue to follow..

ok....little gross today.....first a little incest going on.....that is just gross.....but I do not understand something....he lusted after her so much to fake being sick and have her bring him food....then he rapes her.....Why would he then hate her and send her out like he did? Just kinda weird......

my bible says that it was the same person who told Amnon how to rape his sister is the same one that told David that not all of his sons had been killed......just Amnon.... He is kinda sick in coming up with the rape plan....and why did he tell David....for graces with King, pleasure, know it all,......he is one that you probably think you know and really don't....don't know his true heart or true intentions....
Yep, incest is gross.....Jonadab was Amnon's cousin and he encouraged Amnon....sometimes you are more vulnerable to sin when somebody close to you encourages you....
ReplyDeleteLove and lust are very different. Amnon was LUSTING, so when the dirty deed was done, it was clear he was not in love with Tamar, he had simply satisfied his lust. If you can't wait, what you feel isn't true love because love puts the other person first. You will see that David is going to have more issues in not dealing with his children which lead to huge problems....
OK...this isn't the John Does (my husband's band) it is Carol and I am on my husband's computer if you ever see that tag....I am sick of that iPad....
