1 Chronicles 23-25

David begins to deal with the end of his life.   Remember he spoke his last words in 2 Samuel.  1 Chronicles is a good accompaniment to 2 Samuel and gives us more detail.  David appoints Solomon his successor and David sets up orderly plan for worship in the temple.  David assigns temple duties to the Levites, who were basicaly three sub-families:  Gershon, Kohath and Merari.  The NSRV says the Kohath family had the highest honor.  Aaron's family came from them, and they were set apart to perform the sacrifices...they were the priests.  Remember, not all Levites were priests, but performed other duties likle our elders, deacons, custodians, assistants, repairmen etc.

The Holy Spirit needs to be able to move, but God is a God of order, not chaos.  See 1 Corinthians 14: 40-But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.  Here, Paul was chastising the church of Corinth for how they were worshipping and gave guidelines for orderly worship.

I am so proud of you....do you realize that we are almost done with 5 months of Bible reading!   You are perservering!!!!  God is delighted with you, I just know it.  You are getting to know Him better and that is what He wants.
