Exodus 7-9

Aaron, Moses' big brother will speak for Moses.  God will communicate through Moses.  God tells Moses that He will harden Pharaoh's heart.   This is a really hard thing to understand.  Why would God do something like this-did the Pharoah ever have a chance?

Know that God always warns first....He doesn't want anyone to perish. People have a chance to make choices. God knew Pharoah's heart...he gave Pharaoh chances to make the right decisions with respect to releasing the Isrealites, but it became clear that Pharaoh wasn't going to make the right decisions....after repeated warnings, Pharaoh still refused to obey God...stubborness can often blind people to the truth.  Finally God seems to say, "All right, Pharaoh, have it your way" and his heart became permanently hardened.

God provided signs and wonders and plagues...remember the people were learning who God was...the didn't have a Bible to read about His character...the Egyptians believed in multiple gods...the Egyptian sorcerers also had some power, but it was not God's.  To an extent, they could reproduce some "magic", but they couldn't stop anything God had done. Finally, even they realized "the finger of God".  The plagues did not bother the Isrealites in Goshen.  Our God is a powerful God

Today, we began with the Bloody Nile, and ended with Hail....The Pharaoh re-nigs on his promise again, so stay tuned for some Locusts in tomorrow's reading....the fun continues in Egypt.....

  1. This part of pretty cool....can you imagine being there and seeing all of this...like you said....they were learning about God at this time.....and someone coming along saying God will do this and that if you don't let go of my ;people.....turning a river to blood, frogs everywhere (never heard this one before), boils and sores on everyone, unbelievable hail falling from the sky.....I mean....can you imagine being there and seeing this? I bet that made a believer out of many of them.....this was very powerful messages God was sending....but it had to be very frightening for the people also....

Pharoah must be a hard headed mean man consumed with power and control....he will not acknowledge what is happening and let the people go......

This story of Moses appears to be a pretty cool story..... I got carried away and read ahead but i will wait for tomorrow for comment....
