Exodus 19-21

Thank goodness for Moses who helped us have 10 commandments instead of 15....ha! the Lord has a sense of humor, so there is your Mel Brooks video for the day........

And  The Law willl come to the people.....I love Mount Sinai, God's holy mountain.....so much happens here: this is where God met Moses in the burning bush and where God made His covenant with Isreal.....Moses is told to consecrate the people....three days of preparation in anticipation of God coming.....I love the description beginning in Exodus 19:16...thunder and lightning and a very loud trumpet blast......how cool....the trumpet grows louder and louder......I have always loved the sound of a trumpet.

God speaks the Ten Commandments.....now, we will hear more about how these are delivered on the stone tablets in future reading.  Chapter 21 deals with ordinances that go with the Law.......God is beginning His plan of pointing out what sin is to His people......He tells them how to act, and what consequences are if they don't obey.

Note that God recognizes the practice of slavery.....he does not encourage it anywhere, but it is an instituion that He deals with because it exists, and He teaches that slaves aren't property, they are humans and can work toward freedom, particularly if they are satisfying debt.
