Genesis 8-11

So, the floodwaters recede and Noah and his sons are blessed by God.  The covenant with Noah is made here....did you notice that the covenant is not just with man but between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth....then Noah proceeds to plant a vineyard and get drunk and naked!  It just goes to show you that even a faithful Christian can screw up!!!!  How old is the man at this point?   I'm just sayin'........

Noah's sons made nations and spread out over the earth....Tower of Babel....man's monument to himself.  Did you know that Babel means Babylon?   Babylon is going to have a huge role with Daniel, and is symbolic of all wickedness when we get to Revelation.

Shem's line takes us to Abram...a pretty major player in the Bible.....

Now before we proceed with Abram, if you are going the chronological route, we will slip on over to Job 1-5 for January 4th...see you tomorrow

  1. I simply cannot imagine being on that ark. I bet the members were completely terrified with all the water and rain constantly falling. But I never knew that was the reason for the rainbow.....God's promise to us.....

  2. I think its great to know that even a faithful servent screws up. Just out of curiosity, why did the ages start to decrease when they started having childern and dying???

  3. Yep, the Bible is full of flawed servants and I love it...drunkenness, adultery, murder....and still God loves us...thank God! Several schools of thought about why people lived so long....some say that it wasn't really the person, but the dynasty all together. Some say that the line was more genetically pure so there was no disease to shorten the life...no rain had fallen yet, so the "cosmic shield" could protect from the sun's harmful rays....God gave people longer so they could re-populate the earth. You also have the quote from God in Genesis 6:3, where it says "Then the Lord said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal, his days will be a hundred and twenty years."...here God allowed Noah's generation 120 years to repent of their ways....so: no REAL answer to your question!!!
