Chapter 36 is a beautiful message of hope. The Lord says, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (This is where the old covenant written on stone, would be the New Covenant as the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts) And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. We have that very Spirit in us now and got it when we became Believers. This is the plan of Jesus....God has been preparing all along for this. The new covenant is promised here and Jesus is the keeper of that new covenant. The Old Covenant was a relationship to God by the law, and the New Covenant was a relationship to God by a personal relationship. The relationship is now out of love and we serve because we wish to, instead of having a relationship so that you had to do certain things not to break God's law.
The Valley of Dry Bones is wild, isn't it...this is for the Spiritually dead. Can you imagine how Ezekiel felt as the breath of life came into dry bones? Tendon and muscle came together before his very eyes....
God promised the Covenant of Peace.....and the new covenant would be everlasting.....this is major...Jesus dies for our signs once and for all. Everlasting because He loves us. We will be one nation under one king and that king is Jesus. The people then could not fathom the two kingdoms coming together again.....the two separate sticks that Ezekiel used were put together in Ezekiel's hands to come back together......
Some say that the "far" fulfillment is happening. In 1948, a state of Israel was declared. This was by design, a refuge for the Jewish people. After the Holocaust, the Jewish people had no sanctuary, no place to retreat to escape persecutors...Now we also know that things are far from settled over there. Constant war reigns. Why do you think this is? Could it be because the Jewish people still have not acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God? Thoughts?
ch 36 does start to show more hope......." sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean.....give you anew heart and put a new spirit within you....put My spirit within you ....bring no famine among you....desolate lnad will become like the Garden of Eden....
ReplyDeleteOK....looks to me like this dry bones story would be more known.....I have NEVER heard of this but it is pretty cool! Can you imagine!!! Standing there and seeing old bones come to life......wild!! It states in my bible that at this time, there was not much hope. Ezekiel probably felt and useless as the old bones that lay in front of him. So to apply to today....even when we are full of hope and despair, God and his grace are there for us.
