Ezekiel 28-31

The King of Tyre is judged....this is a major seaport town, but the King has pride that needs to be dealt with..verses 4-5 have God acknowledging that the King is smart and built a successful city...Ezekiel talks about the beauty of Tyre's king and compares it to the high priest's breastplate (remember the beautiful stones that were on it)....Ezekiel points out that none of this is self made....the King  didn't do it, God did.  The King gets corrupt and misuses his power, and God will bring him down....thus, the "lament".

Sidon is in Phoenician; another sea town that had success and thought success was their own...God judges them.  In the middle of all this, we have future blessings for Israel, beginning in verse 25..this process of restoration is judgment on Israel's neighbors's, because God will bring the scattered Israelites back to their land.

God gives lots of attention to Egypt and its judgement...remember that this relationship started all the way back when God delivered the Israelites from slavery........Egypt's great power will be taken and they will never be a world power again.  Babylon will plunder them.

Then it is all about how God will break both the Pharoah's arms so that the sword will fall from them...the King of Babylon's arms will be strengthened and we will have a new power.  Chapter 31 is how Egypt is compared to Assyria...God brought Assyria down...to the grave....God can do anything....God has a plan and it is "going down".
