Jehohaz became King of Israel and was another evil king of the Northern kingdom. He ticked off God, so God kept him under the power of Hazael (mentioned above), who ultimately destroyed most of them. Jehoash succeeds him and was also evil....Elisha is suffering from something he eventually dies from and Jehoash goes to see hin and weep over him...Note, he calls Elisha "The chariots and horsemen of Israel".....Elisha has him shoot a bow, and it is victory over Aram.....Elisha asks Jehoash to strike the ground with arrows.....Jehoash does this three times and as a result will only defeat Aram three times.... Elisha dies.......
Another miracle.....a body that was being buried was thrown into Elisha's tomb because the people came under attack.....when the body touched Elisha's bones, it came back to life!!!!!
Hazael dies and Ben-hadad succeeds him......sure enough, Jehoash defeats him three times.....
2 Chronicles 24 gives us more detail on Joash repairing the temple...we have Jehoiada the high priest's death recorded....after Jehoiada's death, Joash doesn't know what to do...Asherah worship becomes prevalent.....this is a king of Judah going astray, rather than the king of Israel....(we get more detail that the officials conspired against him and blamed him for Jehoiada's death and killed him in his bed...he was already wounded from fighting)....Interesting note: Joash isn't buried with kings AND he is not even listed in Jesus' genealogy in the New Testament!!!
God sent prophets and they were not listened to. Zechariah, the priest explains that they have disobeyed the Lord's commands and he is stoned.......\

I hate to see Elisha die.....he did some interesting things.....kinda cool how after he died, when a dead man touched his body, the dead man came back to life......
