Isaiah 64-66

So, did you ever think you would make it this far?  We've been at this for about 213 days!  Thank you for being faithful.

Isaiah 64-The Remnant Prays
This prayer continues from chapter 63...God's people plead for him to come in all His power and glory.  The prayer describes our state of sin...we have no power to stand against temptation.  Our sins carry us along like a hurricane wind. There is a plea for the mercy of the Lord and verse 8-9 asks God to remember who his people are.  Verse 10-11 ask God to remember the condition of Zion and verse 12 asks God to act.

Isaiah 65-The Lord answers the prayer of the Remnant
He sees that the repentance is really shallow in verses 1-7.  The people provoke Him to anger, continually to His face and think they are holier than thou...Verses 8-16 are a promise of blessing to the true servants of God and promise chastisement to false servants of God.  (He knows people's heart).
In verse 17-19 we read the promise of a new heaven and a new earth.  Verses 20-25 are the blessed state of the earth when the Lord is with us.  (Zechariah 14: 16-19 and Psalm 2 deal with the firm rule of the Messiah during his reign on earth and he'll deal with those who don't surrender to His reign).  The wolf and the lamb will feed together (remember the art "The Peaceable Kingdom").

Isaiah 66-Rejoicing in God's Ultimate Victory
This is the last chapter of Isaiah (some of you may be glad LOL)
The Lord will repay His enemies....God gives and answer to empty religious ritual (verse 3-4).  The Lord comes with fire and their is rejoincing in the deliverance of Jerusalem (verse 7-11).  The Lord comes in judgment (verse 12-17) and He gathers and restores His people (18-21).  Verse 22-24 is the certainty of both the Lord's judgment and His restoration.

This was a hard book, but there is so much amazing prophecy in it...both in the near term and the far term.....you are going to see so much of this book quoted in the New Testament....the important message for us....the Lord wins so shouldn't you be on His side????????
