Ezekiel 40-41

This is the new temple....now what does this mean exactly?  Scholars differ and I love it.  My NIV has 4 separate viewpoints:

1)  It's the temple that Zerubbabel should have built in 520-515BC and is the actual blueprint that Ezekiel intended
2)  This is a literal temple to be rebuilt during the millennial reign of Christ
3)  This temple is symbolic of the true worship of God by the Christian church right now
4)  This temple is symbolic of the future and eternal reign of God when his presence and blessing fill the earth.

I don't like to get all hung up on the doctrine.  To me, you never know how God is going to fulfill things until He does.   The people knew that Jesus was to come back as a King....the Jews totally missed it because they had their own idea of what a king should be.....Jesus' own disciples expected that Jesus would conquer Roman oppression.....Jesus certainly did, but not at all in the way they expected.....so, I don't think we know exactly what will happen with the new temple, but God does and that is all that matters.  If God wanted it to be clear, it would be.......I'm just sayin'...
