Nahum

Nahum's name means comfort...he has a divine vision and it is showing God as a divine warrior...he is jealous "for His own glory".  No one escapes God's judgement. Jonah had been to Ninevah 100 years ago, and the people repented....they had turned back to their ways.. Assyria will be destroyed by God himself....Assyria is pictured as a prostitute, ensnaring through politics and the economy....(do you recognize anything?).  In a time of fear, Nahum comforts the people of Judah....he tells them to use all their strength by shifting their focus from the strength of their enemies, and even their own limited strength and look at the all powerful God..Assyria had captured the Northern kingdom and attacked the Southern kingdom....Ninevah will be so completely destroyed that its ruins were not identified until 1845........those who lust for power will be destroyed by it.....just like the mighty Assyrian empire....
