Isaiah 54-58

Can you believe that you have stuck with it for over 7 months?   I am so proud of you, but that doesn't matter...God is so happy that you are trying to get to know him.....give yourself some credit today..

Chapter 54 us all about the future glory of Zion...what is Zion?  The future kingdom when Christ comes back again....His kingdom will be for ALL who believe..God has huge unfailing love for his children...

Chapter 55
Invitation to the thirsty.....what does this mean?   The thirsty know that they need something (say eternal life?) and only Christ can satisfy this longing...if you remember from discussion (from Glenda)  God's word will not return void......Look at 55: 11....what do you think about this?   This is pretty big for me....

The holy mtn. continues to come up...this is Zion.....and God will lay the bridegroom's feast for Jesus to have with His church....every knee shall bow....all will seek to worship at His feet....

Chapter 57 talks about Spiritual Adultery...gets back to that divorce example we had before.......will God forgive?

Chapter 58
What is true fasting?   Have you ever done this?  Why would God want you to do this?  Can you find the conditional promises in this chapter?

  1. Ok...giving myself credit for trying....but not really understanding a lot....but getting what I can.....can't wait to get to new testament...

Ok....not really sure on your true fasting question.....could you help me on this? But I did catch something it looks like we all do wrong.....on the Sabbath, it says we should honor Him, and do do our own ways.....or finding our own pleasure....but to delight ourselves in the Lord......does this mean we are to spend all day honoring the Lord.?

  2. Yes, hang in there...you are picking up more than you think and that will be made so clear when you get to the New Testament......true fasting is not like the Pharisees in Jesus time did...they had everyone look at how holy they were and the big old sacrifices they made....a true fast is done, not to brag, but to be between you and God so that you can discern more clearly what His will is....it is all abou the motive!
