Did you know that "Praise the Lord" is Halleluyah.....how many times have you sung Halleluyah in your lifetime?
how much of the history did you remember in Psalm 106? I confess I had to go back and look up Dathan and Abiram in Numbers 16 1-3. did you remember what Phineas did? remember what happened at Meribah? Israel constantly turned away from God....are we any different? our idols may not be actual images.....our culture's gods could be power, convenience, fame, sex and pleasure.....ever thought of convenience being a god? Are we in any type of captivity? God patiently delivers us...are we open to it?
Psalm 107 begins Book 5 of the Psalms...it mirrors Deuteronomy, the 5th book of Moses. did you notice it started with the same words, "give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever"....That reminds me of the Michael W. Smith song.....the Psalms mean more to me when I have a song associated with them. this Psalm is all about deliverance.....everyone has times of trial....no one escapes it....this Psalm assures us that if we beg, ask or call On God
he gives us what we need......"let the redeemed" refers to all of us believers....when Jesus died on the cross He paid the ransom for, or bought us back, from sin. If Jesus suffered, why should we escape it? Sometimes trials test us, or remind us of ou dependence on God.
I liked these two .....
