Deuteronomy 14-16

Chapter 14 is about clean and unclean foods.....we no longer have this law apply to us as you see in the vision Peter had from the Lord in Acts 10: 9-48...pretty cool to see how the new covenant changes things......thank God for Jesus, huh?

Chapter 15 is about canceling debts...we are to respond to people's needs...when you get to verse 12, of course we no longer have servants like that culture did.....application however, remains the same.  How do we treat people in the workplace or within our circle of influence.   Everyone has dignity and worth.

Chapter 16 deals with the three festivals that the Lord calls the people into His Presence.   Note that chapter 16:5 says, "You must not sacrifice the Passover in any town the Lord your God gives you  except in the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name."   The people aren't traveling as a nomadic tribe any longer, they are going to the Promised Land.  They are encouraged to give as God gave to them.  We are to continue that today, even if we as Gentiles don't gather at three religious festivals......this is how people came into God's presence...we have the Holy Spirit and can be with God anytime!  Again, thank God for Jesus, huh!
