Stella the Dachsund is so glad you made it through Job!
I am so glad it turned out wonderful for Job.......he went through hard times, but remained faithful to his beliefs and Gods rules and laws. He remained faithful to his beliefs and what he felt was right. Even though we suffer adversity in our life, that does not mean we are being punished for something we have done.God has a plan for us, and good times and bad, God has a reason and will not put us through anything that we cannot handle. God proved himself to be faithful to his promises...
Yep...we learned about a Leviathan of the sea (from a serpent to a croc) and a Behemoth (perhaps a hippo or an elephant)that God created. I wonder where Job's wife was during all this time? Job ends up having more children with her, so somehow she was forgiven for telling Job to curse God....and an interesting note...in verse 13, the sons names are not mentioned but the daughters are....this is not the norm of a Patriarchal society that we are getting ready to move into in further readings....much less that the girls get an inheritance.....the world is still new, I suppose.
So, this chapter was all about suffering. Despite Job's friends advice, sometimes adversity is not a result of unconfessed sin. Satan may be attacking and we are to call on God for strength...Suffering could be a result of natural consequences that we are not directly responsible for..maybe God is preparing us for some kind of service. Trouble doesn't just come from sin because we live in a fallen world. James in the New Testament, Jesus' brother is going to talk about Job's perseverence. As a result of persevering, Job was rewarded double for his trouble. The thing is, we can't stick by what we think is fair...that is a human concept, and God has the whole plan in mind....
