Numbers 16-17

So now Korah and his associates have some ambition and they want their perceived "piece of the pie".  They felt that Moses had set himself above everyone and they wanted some power and prestige.....they truly didn't understand Moses' ambition was to serve the Lord...it was not for power and prestige...Moses gets angry and the Lord takes up for Moses...he tells Moses and Aaron to separate themselves from the assembly and He'll take care of the rest.   Moses and Aaron fall facedown and intercede (would you be able to do that???)    Finally, the Lord lets the earth open up and swallow Korah, Dathan and Abiram (not all Korah's descendents are destroyed as you will find out later), and fire swallows up the 250 men that offered insence to the Lord (they weren't to approach God).....and a plague started until Aaron could make atonement for sins.

Then Aaron's staff buds....the Lord wants to be done with the grumbling and will show who he has chosen to be High Priest.    Twelve staffs from all the tribal leaders are put together and the Lord has Aaron's staff bud and sprout and produced almonds....this is a sign to the rebellious........only the High Priest can approach God.
